Major Russian Assaults Cut Power Across Ukraine's Capital

Power facilities targeted in Ukraine
Ukraine's energy systems have come under escalating attacks in the past few days

During the night, Moscow's missile and drone strikes have caused power cuts in large parts of the capital city, Kyiv.

Nine people were injured while local people in eastern districts were experienced blackouts and dealt with disruption to drinking water, according to city officials.

At the same time, a seven-year-old child was fatally injured in a separate assault in the southeastern region in the country's south-east, as reported by local officials.

Moscow has intensified assaults on electrical systems over the last fortnight, while the country's government has requested "concrete actions" from international partners to exert influence on Russia.

"What is required is not window dressing but firm measures - from the US, the EU and the G7 - in supplying air defence systems and implementing penalties," mentioned in a public message.

Officials stated that hundreds of unmanned aircraft and more than 30 rockets targeted the country's power systems, describing such attacks as "cynical and calculated" and against "critical infrastructure" as winter approaches.

Government representatives said Moscow was "launching a major assault" and maintenance teams were striving to repair systems.

A barrage of missiles struck electrical systems and civilian homes in the capital.

Multiple people injured in the attacks on the capital have been transported for medical care, as confirmed by local officials.

Area administrators said the urban area experienced heavy assaults during nighttime hours. A young boy lost their life and multiple civilians were hurt.

The strikes succeed evenings of aerial attacks in the region, portions of which are occupied by Russian forces.

All of Ukraine is in a state of readiness for advanced weapon attacks, which are more difficult to detect.

National leaders told reporters that Russia was purposely seeking to demolish the country's energy grid, with assaults already affecting energy systems.

Authorities confirmed utility staff and authorities were anticipating further attacks.
